Our city is on the move and growing fast. By 2041, we're expecting to grow by almost 280,000 people - an increase of nearly 55%. This will not only present significant challenges, but also significant opportunities if we can plan for our future in intelligent ways that minimises problems while maximising benefits.

About the Urban Transformation Program

The city's Urban Transformation Program (UTP) is an ambitious program that seeks to manage the growth pressures faced by our community. Through forward planning, we can get ahead of the growth to produce benefits for the community while minimising its potential impacts.

The UTP is a long-term, collaboration between various city and State Government agencies, the local community and key stakeholder groups to strengthen our communities and enhance our livability while minimising the pressures that leads traffic and congestion, inappropriate development and destruction our natural environments.

The UTP will consist of several major projects over the next few years, all working together to deliver a strong vision for growing together to create places that work for all citizens, not just the few.

Transport is the life blood of our community. It allows us to actively move to go to work, to visit friends, to explore our environment and to visit key destinations.

An integral part of the UTP is to consider the way we move through our city, both currently and in the future. We want to hear your views on how mass transit can best be planned to connect our communities with sustainable and inclusive options for travel.

Urban Development Framework

Prior to considering the planning of the transport network, the UTP considered what the appropriate scale of future development should be across the city. This work directs where new growth will go and at what density it will be allowed to be built.
