Bird life flourishes

Poundcoin River is thriving, thanks to volunteer landcare work. Work that has seen the return of many bird species to a river that was once considered polluted.

The humble kingfisher has again been sighted after not been spotted in the City for over 10 years which shows the River is again healthy as they only fish in fresh clean water.

The local volunteer landcare group have done an amazing job clearing rubbish and planting over 1000 new trees with the help of funding from the City Council participatory budgeting system aimed at highlighting community work.
